bescheiden. E i g e n t l i c h haben s i c h m e i n e Träume v o n v o r v i e r
Jahren b e r e i t s v e r w i r k l i c h t . A l s i c h noch a l s
Redaktionsassistent bei dpa arbeitete, dachte tch o f t darüber
nach, w a s man w o h l a l l e s machen k ö n n t e , worm man m i t e i n p a a r
Leuten e i n s o l c h e s Kommunikationssystem h ä t t e w i e d i e s e r Laden.
Ein ü b e r den ganzen Globus gespanntes Te x t - N e t z .
I c h l e r n t e Wau H o l l a n d k e n n e n , d a m a l s h a t t e d e r s o g e n a n n t e

gescheucht, und h ö r t e das e r s t e mal was von Datenfernübertragung

v i a Datex u n d Te x t v e r a r b e i t u n g a u f Heimcomputern. I m m e r h i n ,
hat b i s heute gedauert - e r s t J e t z t wachsen d i e e r s t e n
Pflänzchen e i n e r neue Mailbox- K u l t u r - und d i e Pflänzchen sind
erstaunlich robust.
Ich s t e l l e m i r o f t d i e F r a g e , o b e s w i r k l i c h n o t w e n d i g i s t , d i e
Mailbox l a u f e n d z u v e r f e i n e r n . Wäre e s n i c h t s i n n v o l l e r , s i c h
auf d a s Te r m i n a l d e s B e n u t z e r s z u k o n z e n t r i e r e n ?
Meine Traum- M a i l b o x i s t " g a n z l e i s e " . S i e v e r s c h w i n d e t sozusagen
hinter d e r Benutzeroberfläche meines Rechners. Z u bestimmten
Zeiten r u f t mein Computer b e i d e r Mailbox a n , und s i e h t nach, o b
d o r t n e u e N a c h r i c h t e n f ü r m i c h h i n t e r l e g t s i n d . Wenn j a , l i e ß t
er s i e r a u s , l ö s c h t u n d v e r a b s c h i e d e t s i c h . M e i n D r u c k e r f ä n g t
an z u r a c k e l n u n d d r u c k t m i r d i e N a c h r i c h t a u s , w ä h r e n d s i e
g l e i c h z e i t i g g e s p e i c h e r t w i r d . Umgekehrt möchte i c h meinen Te x t
mit einem "Sende an" abschließen - und um den Rest brauche i c h
mich n i c h t m e h r z u kümmern.
Das g i b t e s a l l e s s c h o n - u n d m a n c h e r T e c h n i k e r m a g ü b e r m e i n e
bescheidenen Wünsche g ü t i g l ä c h e l n . E s f ä l l t m i r s c h w e r, n o c h
mehr W ü n s c h e z u ä u ß e r n - e i g e n t l i c h g i l t e s , e r G t m a l d i e
vorhandenen M ö g l i c h k e i t e n s c h ä t z e n z u l e r n e n - und d a s i s t schon
eine ganze Menge, mehr a l s w i r g e i s t i g v e r k r a f t e n können.
Bei d e n Wünschen n a c h n o c h m e h r F e i n h s i t e n f ä l i t m i r i m m e r
Charles Chaplin e i n . D e r h a t s e i n e Filme m i t "einfachen"
Holzkisten gedreht. Und trotzdem sind seine Filme berühmt, weil
5iE I n h a l t und Aussage haben. Dagegen g i b t e s haute e i n e
ausgefeilte Videotechnik, bildverarbeitende Compuffter und jeden
Dödelfatz d e n man s i c h denken k a n n . S i n d d i e F i l m e d e s h a l b
besser geworden? B e i l e i b e n i c h t ! E s s e l l s o g a r J o u r n a l i s t e n
geben, d i e m i t e i n e r a l t e n A d l e e i m Z w e i f i n g e r - S u c h s y s t e m
hervorragende Te x t e s c h r e i b e n . I c h g e h ö r e l e i d e r n i c h t mehr
zu j e n e r S o r t e - a b e r e s i s t s c h o n n a c h d e n k e n s w e r t .
